Singapore: Sarawak’s business events industry continue its momentum of achievements as 2 Sarawakians have been named as Business Events Influencers by Asia’s leading industry magazine, Biz Events Asia (BEA).

Ronald Lim and Amelia Roziman, both from Kuching, Sarawak, were applauded for their vast experience and dedication towards Sarawak’s business events industry which seats them among 18 other influencers from several countries – making them the first Sarawakians to hold such a title for Sarawak.

Ronald Lim has been in the industry for 15 years and is the first Sarawakian to be appointed by International Telecom Union – an agency under United Nations – for 5 years consecutively as the Technical Consultant for the annual Telecom World Congress. He is now the co-founder of Conference People – a homegrown professional conference organiser brand in Sarawak which won numerous Asia Pacific Annual Conferences (APAC) and national level congresses since its inception. “Event technology is today’s solution to address the challenge of sustainable events”, says Ronald Lim. “Being sustainable is more than just going green; it is cost-effective for planners, encourages better data collection and could potentially improve the image of an organisation. With Sarawak focusing on the digital economy, it makes sense to embrace event technologies and event data collected for a more efficient business events industry.”

Besides Ronald, another influencer is climbing up the ladder of international industry recognition and success since the birth of Sarawak’s business events industry. Amelia Roziman, who is now the Chief Operating Officer of Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), started as the bureau’s sales coordinator 13 years ago before becoming a key figure in the industry.
