Buenos Aires, 4th November 2015: Delegates at the 54th International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) 2015 in Buenos Aires were given sneak peeks, from 1st to 4th November, into – Sarawak, the Heart of Borneo.
With Sarawak playing host to the ICCA 2016 next year, delegates were given a preview of the best of Borneo through a string of exciting marketing and promotional activities. Some of the key activities included; The Borneo Orang-utan Project, 1‘One-stop-info’ booth to promote pre- and post-tour activities in Malaysia and a Sarawak tribal performance, ‘Awaken the Warrior Within’.
Aside from the rich culture and beautiful nature, upcoming ICCA 2016’s host, Sarawak, was also recognised by the rest of Malaysia as a pioneer in the development of the business events sector. As a leading second-tier destination, the story of Sarawak’s rise from obscurity to the most successful convention marketing organisation outside Malaysia’s capital city offers, other destinations alike, a living case study to see what an amazing impact a thriving business event sector can have on a developing State. Accessing ICCA membership has also supported the Sarawak Convention Bureau in achieving this goal.
