Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) Kuala Lumpur office recently hosted an industry event at the KL Bird Park with the theme, “Wallace’s Bird Day” using the Bureau’s mascot Wallace to celebrate the ongoing support and relationship of the business events industry in Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak. The event attracted more than 50 guests from the business events industry to network and exchange business contacts. SCB also took the opportunity to invite industry members from Sarawak to introduce their products and also provide destination updates.
To ensure there was never a dull moment, SCB, together with event partners Events Horizon, CPH Travel, Cat City Holidays and Discovery Overland Holidays created an Explorer Trail where guests, divided into teams, had to be on the lookout for clues and quick facts on Sarawak along the park trail. They also had to snap a creative photo with event logos scattered around the park. The winning team received gifts sponsored by Borneo Soap and SCB.
SCB’s Director of Sales based in KL, Geoffrey Lee commented, “This annual event is our way of maintaining a working relationship with our industry partners and at the same time, introduce new faces from the Bureau and potential partners that we will work with throughout the year.”
He added, “The support from our partners has been incredible and we hope that this will allow them to work together to exchange leads and share resources to further develop the business events sector for Sarawak.”

- Your Business Partner by Sarawak Convention Bureau
The presentations highlighted event case studies of events that were recently held in Sarawak to give an overview of what meeting planners can expect and how they can work closely with SCB and the local industry.
SCB Managing Director, Mike Cannon commented, “We invite industry members in KL to reach out to our Sarawak business event partners either directly or via the Bureau to showcase what is available in Borneo and strike a fruitful partnership in securing future business for both parties.”
Overall, the event was a success in bringing industry members together from both KL and Sarawak to share the latest products and updates available for a successful business event in Sarawak.
