On behalf of the Sarawak Tourism Taxi Competition 2014 Organizing Committee and all members of Sarawak Tourism Federation (STF), we are grateful for Assistant Minister of Tourism, Yang Berhormat Datuk Gramong Juna to spare his time, after a tedious trip promoting Sarawak Destination in Europe come to one straight to grace this important tourism event. YB Datuk Gramong Juna’s presence show his profound interest in the tourism industry and in particular, our valued taxi operators, who play important roles to promote the Sarawak charm in memorial, the multi-racial and multi-religious harmony as explained by YAB Ketua Menteri, Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Haji Adenan Haji Satem. We are also grateful to have the attendance of Tourism Malaysia Board member, Puan Manggi Abang Saufi who came all the way from Kuala Lumpur to be with us.
As the drawing down of the year of Visit Malaysia 2014 with various successes, Sarawak Tourism Federation (STF) has the pleasure to have the opportunity to lead in organizing the first of its kind Sarawak Tourism Taxi Competition 2014 with the strong sponsorship by Ministry of Tourism Sarawak, Sarawak Convention Bureau and Tourism Malaysia together with the undivided support of all Sarawak Taxi Associations in Kuching. This competition provide a meaningful mission to promote service excellence among our taxi operators as “frontline tourism ambassadors” and as the backbone of our tourism industry while at the same time to recognize their contribution in service delivery of the Sarawak Tourism Industry. It is hoped that this achievement will help to usher in the year of Festivals 2015 with greater excitement.
Among others, its objective is to promote service excellent among our taxi operators as “frontline tourism ambassador” and as the backbone of the tourism industry. We shall also be recognizing outstanding service delivery and assistance rendered to our overseas visitors / tourists taking into account the following aspects:-
- a) Driver’s knowledge and skill
- b) Courtesy and Helpfulness
- c) Driver’s Vehicles and Presentation
- d) Safety and Comfort
- e) Service and Assistance to Passengers with special needs
Any special comments are sought in the Nomination Form, which will be considered by the panel of judges, who decision is final.
Our guests and visitors especially from overseas, are warmly invited to nominate or vote. We thank them for their time to vote and nominate the best taxi operator. Their comments and nomination will assist us tremendously in make this event a success.
We are happy also that our four Taxi Associations with their registered active members of 596 will be participating in the year competition to show that they fully support the excellent service principal of fair charges based on the taxi meters they had installed. During this competition period of one month they are requested will do their best to serve well our foreign guests who will in return support them by their nomination and voting or comments. The closing date is 8th December 2014 with the Awards Presentation on 15th December 2014.

ii) Sarawak Taxi Owners Association
iii) Persatuan Taxi Bumiputra, and
iv) Bumi Kenyalang Taxi Association.
