SCB business lucheon in Sydney- Dr Caroline and Mike & SCB team with some of the guestsKUCHING, 14 March 2014: Selected corporate partners and key industry buyers of business events were treated to a tribal gathering at the Hilton Sydney with the Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) following SCB’s attendance at the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) 2014 in Melbourne.

SCB’s event hosted a quality group of 21 business leaders from an array of industries and sectors of the government, associations, airlines and trade. The luncheon was designed to build rapport and buyer network opportunities with the business events industry in Sydney.  At the same time, it showcased and raised awareness of the capabilities of Sarawak as a destination for business and business events with a difference.

Dr Caroline Hong, CEO of CH Asia Australia, and cross border SME and business events expert, graciously hosted the special luncheon for SCB, and commented that “Sarawak is like a precious gem, once discovered and experienced it keeps drawing you back to the exotic destination where you can combine business with adventure. The participants were very impressed and surprised to learn so much about a new destination that has so much appeal, in particular its people and culture, CSR and eco-friendly facilities. Several are already thinking of trying out Sarawak as the new magical enriching soulful experience for their business events”.

Dr Caroline Hong added, “It was a business with adventure luncheon where guests experienced dining in a tribal ambiance that offered a great insight into authentic Sarawak background.”

Showing off the talents of the SCB team members, and sharing Sarawak’s unique cultural experiences with the guests, the luncheon began with blessings by SCB’s Tribal Warrior performing the ‘miring’ ceremony, as such wishing the best for all present.  This was followed by an introduction to the guests about the “Things You Should Know About Sarawakians”, and moved on to a dance performance of the Orang-Ulu tribe, inspired by the flight of the hornbills.

SCB’s MD Mike Cannon explained; “Sarawak is blessed to have many unique selling points that make it an ideal destination for business events. We are here to showcase a glimpse of what the State has to offer in terms of its people and culture – and of course it’s infrastructure. Many who have had the chance to visit Sarawak will assure you that it is like no other.  It offers the balance of modern business amenities with the serenity of the rainforest”.
