KUCHING, 30 November 2013: Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) created the Tribal Wisdom Speaker Programme to enhance and add-value to business events held in Sarawak. This platform allows selected successful local Sarawakians to share their story and how their tribal ancestry influenced their businesses today. In celebration of its 5th year, SCB gathered the speakers to show their appreciation in sharing their personal stories to the world.

The awards were presented by YB Datuk Haji Talib Bin Zulpilip, Assistant Minister of Tourism Sarawak and YB Dato’ Sri Dr. Muhd. Leo Michael Toyad Abdullah, Chairman of SCB, amidst the pomp and splendour at the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) during the 7th Anak Sarawak Appreciation Awards. Themed “The Bidayuh Feast of Triumph: Selanting Kuning and the Dragon King”, the event hall transformed into a traditional village scene, complete with villagers and recreation of the folklore. Local cultural elements and traditional icons sprung to life and gave guests an unforgettable taste of Sarawak.

YB Datuk Haji Talib Bin Zulpilip commented, “The Tribal Wisdom Speaker Programme provides an enriching opportunity for delegates to learn how timeless tribal wisdom still shapes our approach to life, family and business success.

Launched in 2009 with a bank of 6 tribal speakers from Sarawak, the Tribal Wisdom Speaker Programme encompasses speakers from various ethnic backgrounds and professions such as medical, architectural and entrepreneurial subjects, to name a few.
